Trump Administration Goes After International Entrepreneur Rule
USCIS announced on its website today that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is using the rule-making process to eliminate the International Entrepreneur (IE) Rule created under the Obama Administration. The Trump Administration wishes to get rid of this rule--- which allows for certain applicants seeking to develop a start-up in the U.S. to be paroled into the U.S. temporarily---for the following reasons: (1) it exceeds the U.S. officers' parole abilities (2) it does not adequately protect U.S. workers and investors (3) it should not be the method for bringing international entrepreneurs into the U.S. Rather, the Trump Administration believes that the legislative process is the more appropriate means for creating such a program.
It is anticipated that this new proposed rule to eliminate the IE Rule will be published on May 29, 2018 in the Federal Registrar and that there then will be 30 days for public comment.
